Car insurance quotes are not available by us for the AA, Direct Line, Esure, More Than, Hastings, Budget, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury or or Diamond  - but to be honest wouldn't you rather have someone to act for you when you need to make a claim rather than be in direct negotiation with 'the other side'?

Is price the be-all and end-all?

Car insurance should not be based solely on price.  If you don't have to make a claim then obviously the 'cheapest' premium was the correct decision, but, once you have your premiums before you buy on price you should bear in mind the following:-

  • Drivers don't become better if they change companies no matter which policy they take up - they are just as likely to have a claim.

  • Companies can only pay claims out with the money they take in. If they take in less money then they will pay out less. Imagine a company that is, say, £50.00 cheaper for each policy and one person in 5 has a claim that uses up all the premiums received. That person - and it could be you - has to be paid out £250 less - and the more the company saves on its premiums, the more it has to save....

  • Direct companies spend a fortune advertising - money which could be used to improve your policy

  • Companies providing low cost cover may have many ways of reducing claim payments - some obvious, some less so:-

    • Policies  may impose a higher excess on the policy e.g. £150 instead of £100

    • Policies  may reduce or exclude some of the benefits that other companies offer.

    • The company may make slightly lower 'total-loss' settlements

    • The company  may cancel your policy after a total loss and make you take out a new one.

  • If you don't have an independent intermediary acting for you, how will you know how good your policy really is?

Are all policies the same?

Car insurance policies differ in cover. You should know that your policy provides cover for your liability for injury (unlimited) and damage to property (£20,000,000) - third party only, can be extended to include loss or damage to a vehicle caused by fire, theft or attempt thereat - third party, fire and theft and then extended to cover accidental and malicious damage to your vehicle - (comprehensive ), but do you know whether your <Comprehensive> policy you obtain covers the following:-

  • A Courtesy vehicle whilst your vehicle is repaired under the policy?

  • Journey completion facilities - to get you and your vehicle home or your destination after an accident?

  • Hotel Accommodation after an accident if necessary

  • Lock replacement should your  keys be stolen or lost?

  • Automatic cover on a luggage trailer attached to your vehicle?

  • Breakdown assistance for your vehicle?

  • Will foreign use be covered at no additional charge - and if so for how many days?

  • If you have a new vehicle, will you receive a replacement if it is stolen or written off? (See our GAP policies for cover)

Car insurance policies also provide other covers where the limits can alter. How high are your limits?

  • Personal effects - sums vary from £50.00 to £200

  • Medical Expenses - sums can vary up to £200

  • Cover for manufacturers/ non standard audio equipment?

  • Personal accident benefits in the case of death or serious injury

Statement of demands and needs

Your demands and needs are those of a person that requires a policy to allow them to drive a motor vehicle legally in the UK.

If you do not contact us but use the internet to obtain your great quote then we have not provided you with any advice. If you contact us  we will advise you as to the suitability of the policies you obtain.

Duty of Disclosure

When asking for your car insurance quotes, you are reminded of your obligation when obtaining any policy of your duty to disclose material facts. A material fact is one that could affect the assessment of the risk in any way.  If you are in doubt whether a fact is material it should be disclosed. This duty continues until you actually go on cover (and you should assume that it is an ongoing duty during the course of the policy and at renewal). Failure to disclose a material fact could result in your policy being declared void, a claim refused and, in the case of motor insurance, a criminal act (Section 147 of 1988 Road Traffic Act 1988). We accept no liability should your policy be cancelled or a claim reduced due to failure to disclose a material fact when applying for cover. Examples of material facts are: modified vehicles e.g. to improve performance, accidents, convictions in the last 5 years, young drivers, previous claims or incidents that could give rise to a claim.
