B. Portwood & Co. Ltd were founded in 1963 by Bernard Portwood ACII who, prior to the formation had spent many years at a top firm in Newcastle. We were originally based in High West Street, Gateshead however moved our main office into Bewick Road in 1969. Our Consett Office was founded at the same time and the Bishop Auckland branch in 1985.

Over the last three years we have aimed to provide a much wider range of policies through the internet offering not only the normal car, and house but also specialising into income protection landlord, travel and holiday. In fact since we are Brokers we are able to provide quotations for virtually any insurence product that may be required.
