Classic motorcycle insurance - underwritten at Lloyds

Our classic motorcycle insurance provides insurance for your classic motor bike. We can insure your classic motorcycle providing it is at least 20 years old and you can limit the mileage on the motorcycle and you are a UK resident. The motorcycle must not be your main mode of transport. No quote if track days or speed events.

The motorcycle must be kept in a locked meta/brick garage at the home address when not in use - garden sheds etc are not acceptable.

Up to 4 riders only, aged between 30 and 69 with a full bike license for 2+ years and UK residence for 3+

Use is restricted to Social, Domestic & pleasure including shows and events. Commuting is optional.

Comprehensive cover (maximum value £12,000) or TPF&T  (Maximum value £5,000)

Cover subject to a satisfactory proposal form and referral to company.

Agreed value available. Four Photos and Purchase receipt required.

NB. Our insurance policy is intended for people who wish to insure their motor cycle as a classic. This does not mean that just because a motor cycle is old it should be insured as such.

Declaration

(You are reminded of your obligation to declare all material facts when applying for a contract of insurance. Failure to do so can result in you not being protected should you need to make a claim. Examples of material facts for motorcycle insurance are: vehicle modification, driving record of all drivers, occupations of all drivers and if insurance has been declined, cancelled or special terms applied)

All drivers must be between 30 and 69, inclusive, have full UK driving licences for at least a year, be permanent residents in the UK for the last three years. Must not be (or, if unemployed previously been connected with) Amusement arcade owner/ employee, artist, caravan dweller, casino employee, [doorman, bouncer, night security on licenced premises], entertainment industry (dance, television, film, theatre), horse jockey/ trainer or the like, be in the [licenced trade/ licensee/ publican or employee], market trader, model, musician, National newspaper journalist/ photographer, Nightclub owner/ employee/ dancer, offshore gas/oil rig employee, professional sportsman, road worker/ ashphalter, scrap/ general dealer/ merchant or under 45 with no occupation.

No driver must have any disabilities/ medical conditions, had insurance declined, refused or special terms imposed or had any conviction within the last 10 years incurring a ban of 3 years or more.

There must be a maximum of one (fault/ non fault/ non recoverable) claim in the last three years totalling less than £5,000 (including payments to other people) and the claim must not involve personal injury, malicious damage or vandalism.

There must be a maximum of : 1 CD10-CD30 (3 years) OR 1 DR10 - DR70 ( 5 years) OR 1 IN10 OR up to 2 of CU, MS10-MS30, MW, PC, PL,SP,TS convictions. 

Other convictions over three years ago can be ignored OTHER than DD20-40, DR80-90. Ignore 'spent' convictions.

The bike may only be used for pleasure and travelling between home and permanent place of business providing no business calls are made during the journey.

The bike must be garaged in your own garage. This does NOT mean garden sheds and the like!

The policy excludes driving other vehicles
30 days free foreign use is provided to any EEC or Western European country. A charge will be made for a Green Card.
The insurance company will impose a £12.60 fee for all adjustments
No return premium below £20.00 will be given
Standard 14 day - full refund option if no claim made
Cancellation: Within 30 days of inception - 60% refund
                         Within 60 days of inception - 40% refund
                         Within 90 days of inception - 20% refund
                         91 days or over cover : No refund
In addition to the above B. Portwood & Co Ltd make a charge for adjustments (£15.00) and cancellation (15% min £15.00)
