We can help you with our Respond contract
covering the cost of mechanical breakdown repairs to your motor car, motorcycle
or motor caravan leaving you to enjoy peace of mind motoring. There are no
hidden catches no 'wear and tear, excuses, you can pay the premium over 12
months and even transfer the policy to the new owner if you sell your vehicle.

Do I qualify?
The policy covers mechanical breakdown on private
cars, motorcaravans and motorcycles which:
-
are less than 10 years old
-
have less than 100,000 miles on the clock
(50000 for motorcycles)
-
have been regularly serviced (must have had a
service within the last 12 months)
-
are not on the excluded vehicle list or use
list.
What is insured
This insurance is designed to cover the repair
cost incurred as a direct result of mechanical, electrical and electronic
breakdown. It does not cover the repair or replacement of worn out
components which have not suffered a breakdown: for example component fitted as
a result of your vehicle being serviced or in order for it to pass an MOT test.
It does not cover the repair or replacement of components which were faulty or
had suffered a breakdown prior to the commencement of the policy - see below for
a list of exclusions.
You are indemnified against repair costs up to
the limit of the sum insured and cover level stated in respect of the components
of your vehicle insured by the policy which require repair or replacement as a
result of a breakdown occurring during the period of insurance whilst your
vehicle is in the United Kingdom (60 days abroad).
There are THREE levels of cover
Cover level 1 (motorcar and
motorcaravan) 
COMPONENTS INSURED
All mechanical, electrical and electronic
components of the vehicle that were the manufacturer's original fitment except
those listed below

Bodywork : All bodywork, trim, glass, paint,
sunroof components, panels, wheels and tyres
-
Brakes : Brake discs and drums, brake pads
and shoes, seized calipers
-
Clutch : renewal of any clutch components due
to incorrect adjustment, misuse or general wear and tear
-
Contaminated fuel: the cleaning or unblocking
of fuel lines, filters, carburettors, pumps metering units or idle speed
control valves
-
Electrics: Batteries, fuses, wiring looms and
connectors including making good corroded connections, in car audio systems
or navigational systems, alarms and immobilisers not fitted by the vehicle
manufacturer as original specification
-
Service items: Distributor cap, rotor arm,
condenser, points, high tension leads, spark plugs, wiper blades, filter
elements, bulbs, belts, antifreeze, fluids, grease, fuel or oils
-
suspension: shock absorbers
-
Miscellaneous: Burnt or sticking valves,
eshaust manifold and gasket, exhaust pipes, catalytic converter, lambda
sensor, drive belts, brackets, mountings, hoses, water ingress, cables.
Cover level 2 (motorcar and
motorcaravan)
COMPONENTS INSURED
ONLY the components listed under the following headings
- Engine: All parts contained within the cylinder block and
head assemblies including the following: rocker assembly, valves and guides,
cylinder head gasket, pushrods, camshaft and cam followers, timing gears,
chains and belts, oil pump, pistons, piston rings, gudgeon pins, cylinder
bores, connecting rods and bearings, crankshaft and bearings, distributor
drive gear, distributor drive auxiliary shaft and bushes, internal bushes,
flywheel and ring gear
- Manual transmission: All parts contained within the
transmission casing including Bands, oil sump shafts, bearings and bushes,
valve block, manual governor and servo
- Differential and driveline including front wheel drive:
crown wheel, pinion gears, planet gears, bearings, bushes, halfshafts,
driveshafts, constant velocity/universal joints swivel hubs, drive flanges
- clutch: release bearing, pressure plate, centre plate
- propshaft: universal joints, bearings
- fuel system: carburettor, fuel pump, fuel injection,
metering unit, air flow meter, pump and injectors
- turbocharger: turbo charger, wastegate
- casings: the cylinder block, cylinder head, transmission
and differential casings
- brakes: master cylinder, servo
- miscellaneous: starter motor, alternator, water pump
- additional items for motorcaravans: internal light
fittings, water pump, water heater, refrigerator, extractor fan motor, tv
socket (manufacturers fitted unit only) gas pipes and joints, hotplate/oven,
space heater (manufacturers fitted unit only) casette toilet, electrical
control unit (master switch panel), where the indicated fault relates to a
covered components.
COVER LEVEL 3 (Motorcycles)
Only the components listed under the following headings are
covered.
- Engine: Cylinder head, all internal bushes, cylinder block
or barrels and crankcase assemblies, camshaft and followers, rocker
assembly, valves and guides, cylinder head gasket, push rods, timing gears,
chains and belts (breakage only) , oil pump, pistons, piston rings, gudgeon
pins, cylinder bores, connecting rods and bearings, crankshaft and bearings,
distributor
- Gearbox: All parts contained within the gearbox casing
including gears, shafts, bearings, bushes, selector forks and rods, torque
convertor, clutches, brake bands, oil pump, valves and seal
- clutch: clutch plates. clutch master cylinder, slave
cylinder, release bearing
- final drive unit: driveshaft, universal joints, bearings,
seal and gears
- frame: excluding damage caused by impact or corrosion
- swing arm unit: including internal bushes and components
- cooling system: water pump, thermostat
- electrical: starter motor,drive gear train and solenoids,
generator and rectifier
- brakes: brake master cylinder, callipers (except where
seized or corroded), all internal components including pistons and seal and
servo units
- front telescopic forks: loss of fluid or pressure or
mechanical failure of the suspension ring
- casings: engine, gearbox and final drive casings are
covered in the event of damage brought about by the failure of a covered
component but excluding external corrosion
- Major oil leaks: oil leaks that necessitate the removal of
either the engine, gearbox or final drive unit to carry out the repairs
Components not covered
Any component not specifically mentioned is not insured.
Also excluded are decarbonising, reseating valves and burnt out valves,
allexternal linkages and kickstart, worn out or burnt out parts, final drive
chain or belt, sprockets, rubber drive couplings and rubber gaiters and
damage caused by impact or external corrosion
Other benefits (all covers)
Please note that the cost of vehicle recovery, car hire and hotel
expenses are included in the sum insured
Vehicle recovery:
This insurance covers vehicle recovery to the nearest repairer
following breakdown of any component of the vehicle covered by this insurance to
a maximum of £100 including VAT per breakdown
Vehicle Hire
If your vehicle is not repaired within 24 hours of its arrival
at the repairer due to the breakdown of any components covered by this insurance
which completely disables the vehicle and prevents it from being used the policy
will pay up to a total of £50 (including VAT) per day for a maximum of 7 days
towards the cost of hiring a similar vehicle. The 7 day period to begin not less
than 24 hours after breakdown. Please note that the policy does not cover:
- The first 24 hours of hire costs following breakdown
- Hire costs in excess of the 7 day allowance
- Charges incurred for fuel, damage or insurance
Hotel expenses
The policy will pay up to a total of £100 including VAT
towards overnight accommodation on a room only basis incurred as a result of a
component covered under this insurance
Overseas use
The territorial limits of the policy are extended for a
maximum period of 60 days during the total period of the policy subject to the
following:-
- You must pay the repairer and claim reimbursement direct
from the claims office
- The sum insured under this section is restricted to a
maximum of £500 (including VAT) inclusive of vehicle recovery hotel and
vehicle hire expenses
- The other terms, conditions and exclusions of the policy.

reward, dispatch or courier vehicles and 3 wheel vehicles

Claim reporting
Claims may be reported at any time but are only
processed on a Monday- Friday 9.00am - 5.00 pm. Should an incident happen
outside this time an automated response service is provided and you may
authorise repairs and claim back any payments retrospectively (subject to policy
cover).
What is not covered
-
Loss or damage to your vehicle or any of its
components caused by the use of incorrect fuel
-
Repair or replacement of components which
have not suffered a breakdown or the replacement of any components to enable
your vehicle to pass the Government Vehicle Testing requirements (MOT) - we
do offer MOT insurance if required
-
Any repairs or replacement, loss or damage or
liability which is claimable on any manufacturer, including where parts are
not available through UK Concessionaire and any delay arising therefrom.

the use of the vehicle at any time for any
rally, racing or any kind of competition or trial other than 'treasure
hunts'
-
any loss or damage due to any traffic
accident, accidental damage (including theft or attempted
-
Any oil leaks, although the breakdown of a
covered component caused by an oil leak will be paid for.
-
damage to the vehicle caused by frost or the
freezing of liquids unless antifreeze had been added tot he liquids in
accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.

Any loss arising from your failure to have
the vehicle serviced in accordance with the conditions of the policy, or
lack of routine maintenance as detailed in your servicing handbook
-
repeat repairs necessary because of poor
workmanship or faulty components
-
the repair or replacement of components which
were faulty or had suffered a breakdown prior to the commencement of cover
-
Routine adjustments and service items:
distributor cap, rotor arm, condensers, points, high tension leads, spark
plugs, wiper blades, filter elements, bulbs, belts, antifreeze, fluids,
grease, fuel or oils unless replacement is necessary following the breakdown
of a component which forms part of a valid claim accepted by the company.

the use of the vehicle for hire or reward,
despatch or courier vehicles.
-
burnt or worn out clutch components,
decarbonising reseating or sticking and burnt out valves.
-
any faults, damage or consequential loss
arising from errors, viruses, omissions or defects in any application or
systems software.

Failure due to date recognition
-
The cost of any exploratory, investigation or
dismantling work not associated with a valid claim.
