Motor car insurance - competitive rates
As an Insurance Broker, B. Portwood & Co Ltd aim to offer a wide service for people looking for car insurance. This means that instead of 'cherry picking' car drivers (although excellent on-line rates are available) we can provide quotes for non-standard or unusual risks. We use our skill to offer discounts for people such as ex company vehicle drivers, young drivers, and can negotiate to obtain a competitive quote for people who have had accidents, convictions or who drive unusual or high performance vehicles. Our 2 on-line services.
Further informationThe services above can cater for a wide range of drivers - however there are many cases when discussing your needs with a Broker can help. There are often circumstances which can be recognised by a human that a computer system just cannot. Proven driving records - such as buying a second car, extenuating circumstances, people who have owned company vehicles can all be catered for best by discussing with a person. Similarly we can offer competitive bespoke quotations for the younger driver - at the moment we are looking for female drivers and male drivers over 19. Pass PlusIf you are a young driver and have just passed your test - why not take the 'Pass Plus' course. Many companies we deal with offer enhanced discounts just for completing the course and the savings in premium will more than offset the fees of the course. State of the market. The car insurance market seems to be settling down. Despite some organisations claiming larger increases in the last 12 months we find that many policies due for renewal are at a similar price to last year. We assume this is because these organisation have lost certain special 'schemes' with underwriters due to loss making i.e. the average motorist has been subsiding them. It will be expected, however that rates will start increasing next year as the impact of higher claims costs (blame 'Claims Direct' and other such 'ambulance chasers') and increased awards for injury settlements (due to a reduction in interest rates) are passed on. In addition claims due to uninsured motorists make up a substantial portion of your premium and also the NHS can claim more for emergency treatment. Please remember that additional benefits obtained by the public from accidents involving drivers have to be paid for in increased premiums. |
