An office, unlike a shop, is unlikely to contain large amounts of stock that need insurance. However in the office are likely to be electronic equipment that needs cover and also the potential loss of data/ destruction of files can be very damaging.
Similarly in an office, there are unlikely to be claims for injuries involving moving heavy objects, nor are the public likely to slip or injure themselves - so liability insurance will be cheap.
However, even in an office there are health and safety issues - a comprehensive risk assessment should be undertaken and staff made aware of potential dangers - these are likely to be less obvious than for a shop, but loose electric cables for instance represent a hazard.
Is this a major rating factor? Insurance companies like employers who are pro-active in assessing and minimising risks and are likely to offer better terms.
Location of the office of course is important - working in premises that are unlikely to be flooded or broken into will no doubt result in lower premiums - similarly a prudent employer will have the premises alarmed, secured the windows and maybe have shutters in place if the office is readily accessible.
