Our commitment to you.As an insurance broker we set great store on the relationship we have with our customers. Our whole ethos is based upon Treating Customers Fairly. This includes, for instance, always being polite to you when you contact us, always providing you with the information you need in good time before you take out or renew a policy, helping and advising you if you need to make a claim and explaining any queries you may have in a clear unambiguous way. It also extends to not selling you inappropriate insurance policies or putting undue pressure on you to take them out - you will find our service friendly yet efficient. Currently there are two ways of buying insurance - advised and non-advised. If you select the advised route then you have a broker to help you select the correct policy - the broker is normally remunerated with commission but some charge a fee and if anything goes wrong e.g. the broker misadvises you then you may have the right to compensation. If you go the non-advised route then not only do you have to deal with the insurance company itself, but you also have to understand exactly what terms and conditions there are in the insurance policy and if you get something wrong there is no recourse - you are on your own. Only a fool or an expert buys direct from an insurance company. Personal Insurance Products available. If you thought that an insurance broker only offered car insurance - then you may be surprised. Although we do not claim to be a large insurance broker we can quote for virtually any need you may have in a personal capacity - even those products that you may buy traditionally from a bank , building society, travel agent, pet shop, car dealer, caravan site owner, electrical store or whatever. Because we specialise in insurance we can advise on them all and you can build up a portfolio of policies with us, knowing that whatever your particular need the answer will lie at Portwoods. Duty of disclosureFor all insurance products you are reminded of your duty to disclose material facts when you take out the policy, renew the policy or when they change. A material fact is one that would affect the assessment of the policy in any way. Naturally each policy has its own material facts and we are only too willing to explain if a fact is material. but if you are in doubt then you should disclose it as failure to do so could result in your policy not protecting you when you need its cover.
