In the UK, Taxi Insurance (both public hire insurance and private) is becoming an expensive purchase. With the withdrawal of many schemes, the losses made by many UK Insurance companies on public hire and ever increasing compensation claims, the price of cover has increased with some drivers being asked to pay an extra 50% or more . Excess Insurance

Since many direct companies issue policies with a high excess you may wish to take out excess insurance. An excess insurance policy pays a fixed amount, typically the excess on your policy, should you make a claim that exceeds the excess on your policy and you can't recover (windscreen claims are not covered).
