Travel Insurance for High Risk activitiesOverviewNormal travel insurance will cover a range of activities, some potentially hazardous, some less so. It is important to realise that many, relatively innocuous activities may not be covered under a standard travel insurance policy and it would be unfortunate that medical expenses, liability, search and rescue costs would have to be paid for by the traveller. Generally, if cover over and above the normal is required, the attitude of B Portwood & Co Ltd is to offer a specific high-risk adventure product provided by PJ Hayman. This is available for UK residents up to 69 who need cover for up to 6 months (3 months for the over 60). An annual policy is available for up to 60 days. Cover can be arranged whilst abroad and for one-off events e.g. if the activity is only happening on five successive days of a four week holiday then only that five day period need to be covered - not the whole period where the activity doesn't happen. Standard benefitsThe standard travel insurance policy covers the following benefits. This can be taken as a top-up - no other travel insurance need be purchased.
Cover for personal effects/ money/ passport, cancellation and unexpected events can be added for a small additional cost (Section B) if cover is needed for more than one day. Additional personal accident benefits and cancellation costs can be covered if we are contacted. See the Key Facts and Policy Wording Activities that can be coveredThe following is a list. Some activities can be covered on referral, some can't. Selecting one category covers all activities in the same or lower category. Click the activity for the premium list. We suggest using the search facility <ctrl +f> to find the specific activity. Many (but by no means all) travel insurance policies will cover some activities in categories 1 and 2.
