Travel Insurance to 'Europe'
Traveling to Europe? We still recommend travel insurance. The EHIC is not a
substitute for travel insurance as it merely cover medical costs in state hospitals.
Some insurance companies do, if the EHIC is used, reduce the excess on their travel insurance
policies so there is some benefit to it.
Countries regarded by travel insurance as 'Europe'
As well as the EU, travel insurance companies often include other countries. However not all travel insurance companies include the same countries. This
means that you must be careful that the travel insurance you select does include the
appropriate country in its definition.
As we are travel insurance brokers we are agents for many companies and thus
know which ones include additional countries in their rating. Examples of countries
classified by some of our insurance companies are shown below.
-
The continent of Europe west of the
Urals
-
Mediterranean Islands
-
Iceland, The Canary Islands, The Azores
-
Turkey in Asia, Lebanon, Israel, Egypt
-
Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya
