Direct Line travel insurance and PortwoodsAs you are aware, Direct Line offer travel insurance. The policy is heavily marketed yet Direct Line offer a travel insurance policy much more expensive than ours as we don't spend a fortune advertising. Furthermore we offer a range of travel insurance policies - Direct Line can only offer one! To be fair, though, we will compare our standard travel insurance policy prices (quotes for under 50s and W/S = winter sports). Quotes taken 17. July 2006.
The Rates we have quoted by Direct Line allow a discount on their travel insurance which runs out shortly. We have no indication that our rates will alter. The excess on the Direct Line policy is £35.00 - the same amount as on one of our travel insurance policies. We believe that you should only have a small excess on your travel insurance policy - you can pay to remove it as well! You should also check all travel insurance policies you buy because the excess on cheap travel insurance policies can be very high - not to mention worse cover elsewhere. You will, no doubt have seen Direct Line advertising their travel insurance policy. We can usually beat them hollow on price or cover or, usually both. We just don't have the resources to spend millions (of your money!) trying to persuade people to buy our products. We suggest you review both policies before making a decision.
